Youth Safety Patrol
In 1949, the Host Lions Club worked with the Jefferson City Police Dept., to inaugurate the School Safety Patrol program. Today, the club annually provides equipment for the operation of this program. In May of each year, the club provides certificates and plaques to the patrol students and provides monetary support for the patrol's annual picnic whichthey help serve.

In May 2014, the JC Host Lions purchased all new apparel and equipment for the Safety Patrol students. Beginning with the 2014 school year, the Safety Patrol students will be wearing and using this new equipment. Instead of the patrol belt the patrol students will be wearing yellow vests. These will be much more visible for motorist to see and will help ensure the safety of the patrol students. They will also be wearing new rain ponchos and using new stop flags.

The Jefferson City Host Lions Club is dedicated to saving children's lives with their work and support of the school safety patrol program.
